![]() Kate is so gosh darn good, it’s as if Richard Carpenter had written “Close to You” with Kate in mind. The word “sappy” came to mind far too many times whilst reading this book. And, like Kate, the formerly (more) fanged town of Sunshine has also become a kinder, gentler place. ![]() So I was disappointed when the heroine of Rumor Has It, Kate Evans, turned out to be, as we say here south of the Mason-Dixon line, sweet as pie. The former, set in Sunshine, Idaho, were a bit more bracing, with more troubled heroes heroes and less honeyed heroines. A year ago, I’d have said there was a slight difference between the Animal Magnetism books and those set in Lucky Harbor. Like most of the more recent books in both series, Rumor has It is enjoyable, comforting, and congenial. ![]() Rumor Has It, the latest book in the Animal Magnetism series, echoes many of Ms. ![]() So, whatever criticisms I have of her latest, it’s clear, on some level, her work is working for me. ![]() Shalvis’s Animal Magnetism series and her Lucky Harbor series. ![]()
